A Message from an after school gymnastics coach

Hi Donna,

Would just like to tell you what a dream the girls are at your school! They honestly listen and want to learn so much...they are so polite and kind...I am really proud of them, they're doing so well.

Kind regards
Megan Bell

Holiday football club

Ultimate Vision Sports delivered their Ultimate Football Fun holiday club. Children had an excellent time learning new skills, staying active and having fun. Each day had a selected theme which included: Attacking, defending, shooting, dribbling and all of this was finished off with a tournament day and presentation of medals and certificates. We look forward to the next fun filled holiday club.

To all parents, carers and pupils,

Many of you are asking about the allocation for extra-curricular clubs. Firstly, the paid clubs are delivered by external companies, for these clubs we endeavour to meet the demand. So for example, if we have 35 pupils apply then we will try and get 2 coaches so there is not a waiting list.

For some of the free clubs, we rely on staff to offer their time to deliver these. For some of the other free clubs we may have applied for grants to increase the number of clubs which we offer. While this is fantastic, we do need to follow the criteria of the funders, this means that we are restricted to who we can offer these clubs to. We currently are receiving funding from Freesport and from London Sport, in order to receive this funding we have to select from their different criteria.

Other free clubs maybe interventions, this means that there is additional support in place to increase an area of improvement e.g. coordination, stamina, confidence and social skills.

We also offer team training, this is lead by myself, Mrs Rose (PE Co-ordinator), Mr Smith (PE Assistant) or a specialist coach, this is a part of our Talented policy for PE; when a child is identified as more able within a sport or a skill then they will receive further training in preparation for competition, this includes understanding their body and the affects of exercise, nutritional advice, psychological preparation (taking away worries and concerns) and how to perform and enjoy the competition.

Other free clubs maybe because we have identified an issue and we use sport and physical activity to break barriers down for pupils to access other opportunities in their school life.

If anyone has any further questions please feel free to come and speak with me. At William Bellamy Primary, we are dedicated to all areas of PE, Physical Activity and School Sport. We endeavour to give your children a wide range of opportunities throughout their school life.

Mrs Rose, PE Coordinator

We already have an extensive extra-curricular program this term with some exciting opportunities for our pupils to be active and learn new skills. Many of the clubs have already begun and we still have more to finalise. We are very pleased with the response from our pupils to the extra-curricular clubs, however this does mean that many clubs are over subscribed. Over this term we will be looking to increase this provision either further. I do believe that we must be one of the most active schools in England. I am so impressed in our pupils enthusiasm to sport and physical activity. Mrs Rose

Saturday football club run by Ultimate Vision Sports is at 9-10am every week. Girls and boys aged 5-11 are welcome. £3.50 a session and the first 2 sessions are free.

Year 5 and 6 football team training is on Tuesday's at 3:15-4:15. We have entered a range of football competitions this year.

The pupils who have been identified as more able (Years 3-6) begin their cross country training this week on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 8am. Meet Mrs Rose and Mr Smith on the KS2 field.

Freesport dodgeball sessions have begun and are very popular with our pupils from year 1 to 6.

We have received funding from Freesport to deliver free sessions of dodgeball to our pupils. Our Don't Dodge Sport, Play Dodgeball will provide 120 of our pupils with a minimum of 8 hours of extra-curricular dodgeball sessions.

We are delivering a Tennis Club as a response to our pupils. Tennis is a really good net game. Tennis is being delivered by Ultimate Vision Sports on a Thursday afterschool.

Extra-Curricular Activities

At William Bellamy we aim to provide our pupils with high quality extracurricular activities. We regularly observe the companies and agencies we work with. For this reason we only arrange an agreement with external providers for one term unless we feel it is in our pupils’ best interests to extend this.

We use various ways of assessing the best provider for our pupils. We speak with parents, teachers, pupils, staff as well as our office staff to ensure that the providers we use are the best for our school and our pupils.

Thank you Miss Dance for our netball club

The pupils in year 5 and 6 are really enjoying our netball club which is delivered by Miss Dance each week. The pupils are improving their footwork and learning the names and roles of each position. Not only are our pupils having a great time while learning new skills, they are also enjoying the social aspects which are linked so closely to playing a sport. Miss Dance is so enthusiastic about keeping fit and healthy while learning the rules of the game that all the children are following her good example and thinking about how their netball club is helping them stay healthy. Thank you to Miss Dance for giving up your time and being such an inspiring netball teacher!

Don't Dodge Sport

William Bellamy primary has been very lucky to work with a local organisation to deliver their Don't Dodge Sport project. This project is aimed at children to encourage them to play more sport and be more active. This project is through The Rose Sport and Education Association and is funded by the summer Freesport in association with The Mayor of London and Coca-cola Park Life. This project offers over 60 children 8 weeks of free dodgeball. We have had a fantastic response and the pupils can progress to the affiliated dodgeball club which is held at our school.

Dodgeball club

Tag Rugby is becoming increasingly popular at William Bellamy Primary. Girl and boys from year 3-6 are playing the game at our afterschool club. Tag Rugby club is held on a Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:15pm.

Tag rugby club

Our Boccia club was set up as a response to our pupils. We tried Boccia during National Sports Week, this created lots of interest from our pupils. The pupils then asked the PE team if they could introduce a Boccia club to our extra curricular provision. More and more pupils are trying Boccia and really enjoying the game.

We enjoyed making and decorating Christmas gifts for our parents: stockings, mice and bookmarks. We tried our best to make our sewing neat and I can do this well now! Please have a look at what we made. Thank you to the adults who made this club available for us - they gave up their own time for this to happen.
