A shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. Be a part of changing children's lives all over the world through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child.
This year, through a campaign called Operation Christmas Child, run by the UK charity Samaritan’s Purse, William Bellamy Primary joined thousands of other schools up and down the country in wrapping, packing and sending shoeboxes full of gifts to needy children around the world.
Through this campaign, we wanted to teach our children about generosity for others, and compassion, to make them aware of the fact that there are children elsewhere in the world who have nothing, and give them the opportunity to do something practical, yet so simple, that can make such a difference.
'Each year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country, adults and children alike, regardless of whether they share our beliefs or not, join with Operation Christmas Child to express their compassion for those less fortunate than themselves, by giving an unconditional gift of love, at Christmas time.’
Thank you to all the children, parents and staff who contributed to this amazing appeal. We managed to make and send off 72 shoeboxes. That means, somewhere, out there, around the world - 72 more children will be having a happy surprise this Christmas.
Global Partnership with Bethel School in Ghana
William Bellamy has taken a bold step to reach out and form a global link with Bethel School in Accra, Ghana. Our aim is for the children to explore and share common experiences. The question is - what do ALL children have in common? Enquiring minds with the passion to discover the world around them through formal and informal learning. We are all aware that in modern times the internet is an ideal tool to reach out to all corners of the earth.
At William Bellamy we are proud to make a difference. By donating used computers and electronic teaching devices we are giving the children of Bethel School similar life opportunities which are available freely to our children. In addition, this will develop and build a strong and positive relationship between the two schools where they can share their experiences and grow together, irrespective of continent and resources.
We are proud to say the school has named their computer suite after William Bellamy to show their appreciation for our generosity.
