Year One were very excited when we received this letter from Miss Preston:
Dear Year 1,
I hear that you have been doing some fantastic learning. I am very busy at the moment and I was wondering if you would be able to help me out with some jobs please.
1. Measure the length of the outdoor area for my tea party. 2. Measure the jugs to find out which one will hold the most tea. 3. Find out which ball will be the safest for party games by measuring the weight.
Thank you Year 1. Please let me know how you get on.
We just love helping out......!!! Check out the pictures below to see how we completed our jobs.
Year 1 Visit Valence House Museum
To support our Creative Curriculum topic Kings and Queens, Year 1 participated in a brilliant workshop at Valence House. We had a wonderful time learning about Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria. The children also had the opportunity to learn about what life was like in Victorian times and compare it with life now.
Have a look at our pictures and read about what the children thought of our day.
Maddison from Blue Class
'I liked it when Rachael dressed up as a Victorian maid. I got to wash the clothes with Victorian soap and we sang a great song.
This is the way we wash the clothes, wash the clothes…….. wash the clothes all day long'.
Kevin from Bleu Class
'My favourite bit was when we got to see an old fashioned kitchen. It had a mouse in! I had a super day'.
Freddie from Nil Class
'I liked going on the coach because I sat with my friend and I talked to my teacher. It was super fun'.
Elijah from Blue Class
'I thought Valence House was a lovely place and I liked playing outside. Our teacher there was called Kate and she knew lots about Queen Elizabeth II'.
Our topic for Spring 2014 is Kings and Queens.

We Love Learning!
As part of our religious studies Year One had a fantastic time visiting the Gurdwara Karamsar Sikh Temple in Ilford. The children had a fun and informative time learning lots about the beliefs and customs of the religion. We are looking forward to our next visit to a place of worship.
This is what some of the children thought of our day …………………………
Patrique from Azul Class
I thought the Sikh Temple was very fancy and our teacher was kind and helpful.
Laura from Bleu Class
I enjoyed learning about the 5ks. The best bit was listening to the beautiful lady talking.
Brooke from Melyna Class
I enjoyed looking at the beautiful things in the temple. My favourite part was sitting on the comfy floor.
Year One have been learning about instructions. We wrote instructions about how to make a jam sandwich and we even got to make one!
Our best instruction was the last one………. Finally enjoy it!
