Thank you Barking and Dagenham for our cool 50th anniversary wristbands!
Year 5 attended art workshops to create art work inspired by the 1960’s to celebrate the borough’s 50th anniversary.
Optical art became popular in the 1960’s. It was a craze that extended into fashion and design. Students worked with pattern and colour to create eye-catching illusions of movement in depth.
Students created figurative art drawn from observations of their classmates holding pose, imagining they are working on the railway line. They had to imagine what kind of jobs could have been involved with the railway and made pop up paper figures to depict these.
We would like to say a big thank you to Councillor Darren Rodwell for supporting our 50th anniversary stalls! We hope you like your new 50th anniversary plaque made by a child in Year 2.
